The Emerald floating offshore wind farm has the potential to harness the enormous wind energy of the Celtic Sea to help create a clean, sustainable future for everyone. The project aspires to help Ireland achieve a green energy future with domestically sourced sustainable electricity delivering both environmental and economic benefits to the entire country.

The Emerald project is envisioned to be off the south coast of Cork, in the vicinity of the decommissioned Kinsale gas field. The partners envision the transformation of the maritime landscape from fossil fuel production to a clean renewable energy source.
Together, EDFps and Simply Blue seek to deliver a scalable floating demonstration project, as a stepping-stone to unlocking Ireland’s floating wind potential. The team are engaged with Government to promote the concept as part of the national marine spatial planning process.
