Erebus by Blue Gem Wind is a 100MW demonstration project 35 km off the coast of Pembrokeshire. The project, named Erebus after the famous ship built in Pembroke Dock is anticipated to be the first floating offshore wind project in the Celtic Sea.
Erebus is Wales’ first floating offshore wind project and is set for construction by the end of the decade and represents a critical stepping stone in a pipeline of floating wind projects in the Celtic Sea.
Erebus is one of the most advanced test and demonstration projects in the Celtic Sea, set to be delivered towards the end of the decade, ahead of commercial-scale developments under Leasing Round 5. It will help build capability within the local supply chain and prepare the region for the large-scale projects expected in the 2030s.
Once constructed, Erebus will provide enough green electricity to power up to 93,000 homes per year and will save 151,000 tonnes of carbon emissions per year.
